The poinsettia's origins can be traced back to 1834 when German scientist Johann Friedrich Klotzsch identified it as a new species. Klotzsch attributed the species name "pulcherrima" to Carl Ludwig Willdenow. While they may not share a physical resemblance, the poinsettia's German equivalent is the "Christmas rose" (Helleborus niger). Known as Christrose, Schneerose, or Weihnachtsrose in German, this central European plant blooms during the winter months from December to March.

The timeless artistry of Ino Schaller continues to captivate collectors today. Ino Schaller, inheriting his father’s legacy, evolved the craft from cardboard figures in the 1940s to pressed forms in the 1960s, and now creates exquisite paper mache figures through a meticulous seven-day process. Each piece is crafted using a blend of traditional materials and secret ingredients, molded, dried, and hand-painted with intricate details before receiving finishing touches like chenille and mica. Handmade from antique molds by the original workshop, every limited-edition Ino Schaller collectible is signed by artist Thomas Schaller. These authentic German candy containers feature a hollow base perfect for storing treats, making them both beautiful and functional keepsakes to treasure.
