From Concept to Completion

How our
ornaments are made

From the first pencil line to the ornament in your hands, it’s a process of design, craftsmanship, tradition, and a little Christmas magic.

  1. The original drawing behind the ornament
    One

    It begins with an idea

Every ornament begins with an idea: a sketch, a vintage reference, a color story, or sometimes a little Christmas nostalgia.

  2. One run, still in the tray
    Two

    Translated into glass

From there, the design is refined and translated into glass. For figural pieces, traditional molds are used to give the ornament its shape; other designs begin with carefully blown glass forms.

  3. Painted at the bench, sketch in view
    Three

    Finished by hand

Each piece then moves through a series of hand-applied finishes, including paint, delicate linework, metallic details, glitter, and other decorative touches.

  4. The finished piece, gold star and all
    Four

    No two are identical

Because so much of the process is done by hand, no two ornaments are completely identical. Those tiny variations are part of what makes traditional European glass ornaments so special.

  5. Boxed and ready to travel
    Five

    Inspected, capped and packed

After the final details are complete, each ornament is inspected, finished with its cap and hanger, and carefully packed for its journey.

Those tiny variations are part of
what makes traditional European glass ornaments so special.
